The Club's First Show

The first club show was an Open one held at Birdwell, Barnsley, on 20th November 1988 and was very well attended, even though it did snow!.
The judge was Ferilith Hamilton, (now Summerfield) who had an entry of 131 dogs making 230 entries - Best in Show was Mr and Mrs Leeson's Ch. Sharwells Mean Mr Mustard of Pitmans. Reserve B.I.S. was Miss J Jones Ch. Millie of Pitmans and Best Puppy was Mr Baldwins Pitmans Cleo At Bullsharma.
There were three Shows held per year - 1 Limit and 2 Open and they became renowned for their friendly atmosphere.
All members at that time received three newsletters every year and the Northern was the first Bullmastiff Club to introduce a postal ballot of Judges, so members had the opportunity to vote for the Judge of their choice.

The 20th November 1994 was a very important day for the Northern Bullmastiff Club. Six years after its formation the club was given the honour of holding its first Championship Show at Sheffield. The atmosphere at the show, like the entry was marvellous, the late Mr Jack Shastid from the USA attracted an entry of 212 Bullmastiff's making 330 entries, the biggest at that time seen in the U.K.
Each exhibitor received a memento from the club in the form of a brass letter opener. The officers and committee had put a lot of hard work into the breed stall, sweepstake, raffle and tombola. The atmosphere around the ring was enhanced by the judge's friendly manner and forthright decisions.
Best in show and the Bitch Challenge Certificate was awarded to Mr & Mrs Seger's Ch.Cadenham Blonde Ambition, the Top Winnning Bullmastiff of 1994 (Pictured left to right: - Mr J.
